Laos Food Festival: Meaningful tradition of Laos women

Hundreds of tourists and residents coming to attend the tenth Laos food festival held at the National Culture Hall in Vientiane.
This four-day festival was held from January 16th to 19th. Organized by the Laos entrepreneurs Association, in coordination with the Lao Women’s Union, the Laos food festival is a famous event every year since 2006.

“It promotes traditional cooking and food preparation of Laos women and is a platform for the exchange of lessons learned,” Chairman of the Committee for the Laos food Festival Deputy Chairman Lao Business women’s Association, said Mrs. Chanthachone Vongsay.

Over fifty exhibitors from famous restaurants and shops of handicrafts in Vientiane Capital and the provinces are on display at the festival.

Lao food festival is also aimed at boosting the Lao enterprises, especially in agriculture, animal husbandry, food processing and restaurants.
This festival include a cooking competition, the result is two chefs from Luang Namtha Province and Xiengkhouang won their opponents from Luang Namtha, Oudomxay, Houaphanh, Xiengkhouang, Khammouane, Savannakhet and Champasak.

Laos 10th Food Festival  by Central Women’s Union, the Lao Women’s Union in collaboration with the Lao enterprise organizations and bright opening 29/1. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Sirikhun Phulavane, vice chairman of the Lao women entrepreneurs, said this year’s festival will attract many domestic and foreign tourists to visit and enjoy the famous cuisine of Laos Food Festival contributing honor traditional values ​​and cultural essence of Lao cuisine as well as create opportunities for women to express Lao cooking skills with the unique cuisine of your local , demonstrating the creativity, ability, his intelligence in the culinary field. Also this is an opportunity for women exchanging tips cook, how to meet the needs of food service market, to help you make the product more goods and services, so that the income of women and improved family well. ”
120 booths of women entrepreneurs from different regions joined this year’s food festival. Specifically, cook noodles contest took place during the opening ceremony with the participation of 11 vocational schools in 10 provinces in the country with the typical noodle dishes like sautéed local mill Ụ Edom, duck noodle Grind-nha -Bu-li and other noodle types of Luang Nam Tha Province, Luang Prabang … with its own unique flavor.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Hoa, Vietnam Ambassador in Laos expressed, this is the first time she attended the food festival in Laos. She said: “Coming to see everyone with excited fun, the sisters demonstrating their cooking skills, introducing food is typical of each region. I think I can learn,  Laos food is delicious, especially the sticky rice dishes, grilled meats as well, but also delicious taste slightly spicy noodles , the diversity of handicraft products, expressing skills, with many intricate embroidery, completely very beautiful, rare handmade,  and has created many impression to visitors “
